Arts Low Down (formerly OCU Arts Low-down) began as a college assignment and since has catapulted into a resource for arts enthusiasts and performers. The website serves as a resource by providing useful weekly industry-related coverage, advice and thoughts, in addition to featuring noteworthy performers.

Amanda Whitesell

Amanda Whitesell has nearly 20 years of training in the performing arts and entertainment industries. She has trained intensely alongside the Radio City Rockettes, American Ballet Theatre, and in New York City. Whitesell’s credits include performing in a Miley Cyrus music video, The Oklahoma Centennial Spectacular, for the Detroit Pistons, as well as in Las Vegas and at Walt Disney World. She continues to share her passion for the performing arts by teaching and adjudicating amateur through pre-professional dancers at several dance and performing arts centers in Oklahoma and Michigan.

She studied dance, voice and theater intensely under dance performance scholarship at Oklahoma City University, where graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications – journalism emphasis.

In addition to being an award-winning dancer, Whitesell’s journalistic work has been recognized statewide. She currently serves as Web Editor and as a Staff Reporter for Livingston Daily Press & Argus in Howell, Mich. She also has interned at The Oklahoman, a 220,000-circulation daily newspaper, Shawnee News-Star, and has served as Editor-in-Chief/Web Editor at Oklahoma City University Student Publications.
